Kenwood Center Training Institute and

the Narrative Therapy Certificate Program

The Kenwood Center Training Institute offers a Narrative Therapy Certificate Program. The nine month program runs from September to May with a new class starting in September. The Certificate Program consists of an organized series of monthly workshops, small group training, texts, readings, research, and written and videotape assignments. The program is open to students and graduates of the major clinical disciplines: Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Pastoral Care, Professional Counseling, Alcohol and Drug Counseling, Medicine, Nursing, etc. Licensure supervision hours and CEU's are part of the program. Participants pay as they go.

Those who successfully complete the program will have the foundational knowledge and skills to practice Narrative Therapy. An Advanced Narrative Therapy Consultation Group is available for graduates of the Certificate Program to continue their professional growth and skill development. Participation or completion of the Certificate Program is a requirement for employment as a therapist at the Kenwood Center.

The Narrative Therapy Certificate Program's Informational Meeting and Center Open House will be held Thursday, September 18 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Kenwood Center. It is free and open to all those interested in the Certificate Program, the Kenwood Center or the possibilities of employment as a therapist at the Center. Kenwood Therapy Center offers professional clinical supervision, research, consultation, workshops and training with local, national and international experts. The center also offers advanced supervision/consultation services for licensed professionals, pastoral counselors and clinical groups and organizations as well as those seeking individual and group supervision hours towards licensure in:

  • Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Psychology
  • Psychological Counseling
  • Alcohol and Drug Counseling

Services are available at the center or can be brought to your site Supervision services are available daytime, evening and weekend hours. Fees vary by number of participants.

All Kenwood Narrative Therapy workshops held at the Kenwood Therapy Center facility, unless otherwise noted.

Return policy:
You may return most new, unopened items sold and fulfilled by Narrative Books within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).

Jill Freedman, LCSW

Jill Freedman is the director of Evanston Family Therapy Center in Illinois, and with Gene Combs is the co-author of the groundbreaking Narrative Therapy: The Social Construction of Preferred Realities, as well as 2 other books and more than 25 articles. She has a practice in the Chicago area, consults to organizations and schools, and teaches internationally. She has recently begun doing community work in Rwanda as part of a team with the Dulwich Centre Foundation. 

Jill had the good fortune to first see Michael White present in 1986 and immediately knew that she had found the way she wanted to work. Since then she has practiced Narrative Therapy and eventually began to teach it around the world. As a result she has had a front row seat for witnessing the changes and developments in the work over the years and the opportunity to engage in different areas of practice.
